Manufacture

"Based out of Boston, Manufacture (Brian Bothwell and Perry Geyer) exploit technology to its fullest extent and manipulate it into an essential element of their hard and relentless sound. Manufacture are industrial and often mix of high tension electronics with blow torch rhythms. The rumble that these Boston noise technicians created with their debut album Terrorvision was only the beginning. The onslaught continued with the release of their second album, The Voice Of World Control. The rhythms are hard, yet Manufacture manage to mix in and out elements of melody, broadcasts, and tension. Terrorvision features vocals by Sarah McLachlan and The Voice Of World Control is blessed with the vocals of Bel Canto's Anneli Drecker." -- Nettwerk

"First American band to be signed to Nettwerk records, they combine the popular heavy electronic dance sound that the label is known for with the ability to write great "pop" music.

Perry GEYER and Brian BOTHWELL have been playing together as MANUFACTURE since 1985. Combining their mutual appreciation of all music and their love of film work, they've progressed into a true band of the times. Using modern technology, which they believe is very American, and the influence of modern European dance music, they've developed a sound that is very unique for an American band. In these days of typical American guitar rock, MANUFACTURE are not afraid to jump ahead and use the technology that so many are fearful of. Rather than rehashing a style that we we've all heard before, MANUFACTURE are looking towards the future.

MANUFACTURE write and create all of the sounds on their albums themselves but will sometimes feature the voice of guests artists (amongst others : Anneli DRECKER (BEL CANTO) and Sarah McLACHLAN). Their underlying political lyrics and visions are intended to make people think and perhaps examine more closely what is going on around them. At any rate, they succeed in drawing the crowd's eyes and thoughts towards the music.

MANUFACTURE are an exciting leap off the edge of American music as we know it." -- Nettwerk (circa 1988)
